In 2024, our hearts were broken as we said goodbye to Butch, one of our beloved cats, who tragically passed away in an accident. Butch was more than just a member of our Cat Colony here at Pleasant Pasture; he was a cherished part of our family. His memory will live on in the lives he touched and the joyful moments he shared with us.
Butch and Billy came to us as “barn brothers,” hailing from the same farm. Whether or not they were true siblings was a mystery—one of the many enigmas of barn life, where cat populations often grow beyond what anyone can manage. The farmer had long lost track of the lineage, overwhelmed by the consequences of unchecked growth: birth defects, disease, and malnutrition. But Butch and Billy found their way to us, and we’re so grateful they did.
The two cats were inseparable, exploring the farm, playing with the pigs (yes, the pigs!), and bringing joy to their fellow cats and humans alike. Love truly knows no bounds.
Butch had a way of bringing peace and warmth to those around him. Whether lounging in the sun, chasing yarn, or simply being his serene self, his presence was a reminder of life’s simple joys. His passing has left a hole in our hearts, but we find solace in knowing he spent his final days surrounded by love, care, and companionship.
Here at Pleasant Pasture, our Cat Colony is more than just a group of cats—it’s a family. We are committed to providing these animals with the care they deserve, from daily meals of canned wet food and dry kibble to a safe and nurturing environment. But we can’t do it without your help.
In memory of Butch and in honor of all the cats who bring joy into our lives, we ask you to consider supporting our efforts. A $10 monthly donation can make a world of difference, ensuring that our feline friends continue to receive the nutrition and care they need.
As we remember Butch, let us celebrate his life and the love he shared with us. Thank you for helping us honor his memory by supporting the cats of Pleasant Pasture. Together, we can make sure Butch’s legacy lives on.
