At Pleasant Pasture, we are constantly humbled by the ways our volunteers pour their love into every corner of our sanctuary and beyond. Today, we’re shining a light on one very special volunteer who has found a touching way to honor the deep bond between people and their horses—through art, memory, and heartfelt compassion.
In quiet moments she’s listened to stories of loss, grief, and love. She’s held space for those saying goodbye to their lifelong companions. And from those tender conversations, the idea was born: handcrafted shadow boxes, created to lovingly honor horses who have passed—or to celebrate those still by our side.
What makes these pieces so meaningful is her careful attention to detail. Each one is custom made using the horse’s real hair, and she meticulously matches coat color, mane, hooves, and markings to create a likeness that feels both familiar and soulfully personal. The result is more than a piece of art—it’s a keepsake that brings comfort and remembrance.
“I just want people to feel like their horse is still with them,” she shared. “Even if it's just in a small, beautiful way.”
We are honored to feature her work and to help share her mission of comfort, connection, and care—one horse at a time. If you would like to honor a beloved horse who has crossed the rainbow bridge, or want to celebrate a horse that’s still part of your everyday life, these shadow boxes offer a gentle, lasting tribute.
